The first activity is the Adventure Education held at Philippine Institute of Quezon City. On the first day, Aug. 15 2008 we had a public performance of Hymnal presentation comprises of singing, dancing, drama, Taiwan culture introduction and Q and A session. Then a big group game was held at auditorium and ended with the seven jumps folk dancing.

Second day we started with singing and action. Then small groups adventure education were held at six classes. Most classes were held with very highly motivation. Through the activities the VMT members made good friends with the Filipino-Chinese Students. Since that experience we held four Cultural Exchange Feast consequently and there were about 15 students of PIQC joined us at True Jesus Church Manila 41 A. Bonifacio St. Brgy Kabayanan San Juan.

The final Cultural Exchange Feast was held on Aug. 24 2008 at TJC Manila, the rest of three cultural exchange activities were on Aug. 14, 15, 16. There were 24 new friends attended this special program. The small chapel of TJC Manila was full of joy and peace. Most friends were invited by Manila Church youths. The program initiated with the ice-breaking, hymnal singing and action in Mandarin. The conquering stations game (闖關遊戲) concluded the morning session. During the lunch Pr. Ted Huang gave his speech of Nothing is Impossible, He is Possible. After lunch there were hymnal singing, games, tea break prayer session and photo time

“Hymnal Presentation”
For this cultural exchange trip to Manila, we had four hymnal presentations. The first one was at Philippine Institute of Quezon City. Then three venues were the Halili Compound of Dns. Phoebi, Dominican College and China Town.

On Aug. 20 we had a very warm program with the Dominican College students during the Inter-Culture Program of Philippine, Taiwan. There were more than 60 students officers, teaching staffs and students of Tourism Department attended the program. We opened the program with opening prayers of two countries. Then the hymnal presentation follow with hymnal singing, drama of forgiveness, Taiwan culture introduction, violin playing hymnal singing and concluded with folk dancing from Dominican College students.

“Mandarin Courses”
Apart from the Tourism and the above two types of cultural activities, the VMT trip to Manila this season was especially back Glory to our beloved God for giving us the opportunity to teach Mandarin in the Dominican College. Professor Daniel Shiao was invited to teach the students from the departments of tourism and Hotel Restaurant Management (HRM). The Mandarin was one compulsory subject of the teaching curriculum of the department of Tourism. And amazingly there were 62 students chosed the Mandarin courses.

On the first day’s lesson, there were more than 15 VMT members visited the college and therefore the students had a lovely chance to practice their newly learning Mandarin with the VMT members, Taiwan College students. And it was indeed a totally new experience of the college students to know Taiwan official language in such wonderful opportunity. Since then some students keep coming to True Jesus Church at 41 Bonifacio Street either attending the Cultural Exchange Feast or free talking to the Taiwan college students.

During our Mandarin lesson the first day we initiated with a lovely Mandarin song singing. Then the practice of using the pronouns of I, you and he to complete a simple sentences such as Jesus loves me, you and him. Or I love you, him, her. Or do you like me, him, her? VMT Trip To Manila

Ted L.

Here is an article of VMT trip to Manila

(A Drama performed at PIQC)--Forgiveness

(Adventure Education of individual class)

We are walking-singing and dancing

(DIY hand painting of cap)

(Interaction of VMT5 and True Jesus Church Manila)

(Group Photo of Cultural Exchange Feast)

How are you today?

Life is simple. When we begin to cherish every gift God gave us, then we can find the true joy hidden behind the test in life. The following testimony is shared by Popo.

This testimony happened when I was ten years old. We went to a hot spring on a Sunday for my family trip. There was a shallow part of the hot spring. There was a row stone in the hot spring, and you can cook eggs between the gaps. The temperature is very high. You need use chopstick to keep it in place. I want to get the chopsticks for my sister, and I thought I would not slip. But went I was about to come up, my right foot fell in the hot spring. Then I took of my right shoe and sock. I saw my skin came apart from my foot. My family took me to rinse my foot immediately and took me to the hospital. After I went home, my foot started to grow bubbles. It was very itchy, but I cannot scratch. About one week later, someone stepped on my right foot when I was at school. My skin fell of, and I cried. Then my classmate took me to the school nurse to wrap my foot. I was worried that it will look ugly like what I saw from the TV commercial. So, I prayed for my foot, I hope it will not have scars. Thank God, my foot looks very normal now. May all the glory and praises be unto God.

This is why we can meet each other in Manila-David Wu

Following article is talking about why I came to Manila, Philippine and who give me the
chance to come and meet many friends there~

This is my first time coming to the place that is hotter than my country, Taiwan. I want to tell you why I join VMT this time. My elder brother Daniel was the member of VMT1. In my impression, members of VMT1 had many training before they left to Philippine. They gathered because of the great love toward God. At that time, someone in VMT asked me if I wanted to come with them. I gave him a smile and you know what that meant. I rejected. Instead, I went to Vancouver spending my Chinese New Year with my family. After VMT1 coming back from Philippine, they became very good friends. In the last year, I still don’t have the motive joining VMT. Like I always did, I stood aside and considered other people as too progressive to divine work. I asked myself if they want to preach the gospel of God, they could spend their money more efficiently in Taiwan instead of going to an unfamiliar country with unfamiliar language. I was just like Judah in the bible who complained to Jesus about the woman who put an expensive perfume on his head. However, I still stay in my warm nest and did nothing at all. This year, when an old member of VMT asked me if I want to serve the Lord, I hesitated, because I heard what they experienced from God in VMT. I adore and envy their work. Yes I want to have the experience like them, I told to myself. After coming back from VMT, they seemed to grow up in their mind and their faith was strengthened. Therefore, I want to grab the chance this time. I joined the VMT this time. However, my research at my university didn’t go very well. When I talked about this volunteer work to my professor, he answered me, “You should put your experiment on the top first, your progress is delay quite a lot and all second-your graduate student should come back on Feb 11, 2008”. However, by that time my flight ticked had been set and because the period of VMT coming to Philippine was also a winter vacation for Taiwan people, the ticked is hard to buy and don’t mention to change the flight. I’m very worry because if I won’t come back to my laboratory on time, my professor will be mad. Thank God, he let the sister who is responsible for ordering the tickets change the ticket easily. Usually, it’s necessary to have passenger’s passport to change the flight. However, this time, the air company let us change without having the passport. This is why I’m here. May all the glory be given to our heavenly father and all the blessing and peace be with all of brothers and sisters.

Testimony in English by VMT4 at Manila Church

For the people who don't have chance to listen to the testimony of VMT4 members and those who want to see word by word again, this blog will post one testimony of VMT4 member each week from now on. Doing so, we can again count the God's grace toward us and other people.

The following testimony is shared by our sister Zara:
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I speak:
Thank the Lord for giving me this opportunity to share about his love.
I will share about Jesus change my mind, when I was the fourth year in college, it’s a nurse college. During the practical training in hospital, I began to think about my job in the future. I hope I can do my job and also can do church’s work and preach Gospel.
When I was working in the hospital, my patients were very sick, they were going to die; they had no hope and they scared what will happen in their life. I hope I can help them to know God, but as you know nurse is always busy, they don’t have any free time to talk much and they have to work by shift, then I feel very sorry and so sad, I have not enough time to tell them something about God.
Thank God, He change my way. I transfer to another university, my major study is social work, during preparing the exam, Jesus gave me a lot of trials, although I had so many trials, but I didn’t lose my confidence and I still pray to God. The date of entrance exam was my birthday, when I finished the exam I know I can pass the exam, then really I pass it , I thought it’s God’s grace.
Because of the success I was still student and have more free time to work for God, such as preaching in Jakarta and VMT in Manila four times.
I think it’s God gave me opportunity, so I can work for God over sea.
Now, please turn to Philippians chapter 2 Verse 13,
For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.
Hebrew chapter 11 vers1,
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
Psalms chapter 37 verse 5,
Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this.
May all the glory be given unto our heavenly father, Amen.

Literal Translation Seminar in Manila Church

Starting from Feb. 16 to 17, we have a literal translation seminar concerning the translation from English to Tagalog. There are 10 college students and church members attended. Sister Gershan is the tutor of this seminar. The seminar will guide members to the translation of five doctrines to Tagalog and to help the evangelize to Filipinos.

We are going to continue the seminars in May and August. Sister Gershan finds that the college students are full of potentiality in writing the Tagalog evangelical articles. Apart from printing the evangelical materials, we hope that in the future Manila Church can publish their own church newsletter and run their own blog.

May God bless the divine work and lead our fore steps. Please pray for the development of Philippine Churches together.

Jacob
